from 8 reviewsAlthough the artwork in this book is a joy for art lovers, the poems are what truly spoke to me in Mr. George Gadson’s Art Psalms. Five poems in particular tugged on my heart, as they put me back into reflection on the past (and present). This is truly a work worth picking up and reading. And for those days when you’re feeling down and in need of upliftment, keep it on your bookshelf, so it’s there in the times you need it most.
This is an amazing work of art with a combination of art, poetry, and scriptures! George did a great job of integrating all three together seamlessly. Highly recommend reading it!
I am blessed to have known George Gadson since the early 90’s. He is without a man who lives his faith and that clearly bones through in “Art Psalms”. I read and reread his psalms as a daily devotional.
The word of God is amazingly beautiful shared in the book. It open your heart and help you understand the The book of Psalm through the eyes of Love.
this is an interesting book with Art and poetry.
Although “soul food” might be an overused phrase….”food for the soul” is exactly the description I would use for the works found in Art Psalms. No matter what your situation…..sad, happy, depressed or just in search of an answer, you can turn to the passages within this book and find a path to the answer you seek. The artwork is both beautiful and inspiring, and the accompanying poems and passages are a remarkable tribute to the author…a well known sculptor, artist and poet. This book will become one of your “go to” books when you are seeking to find a peaceful place in your heart.
Mr. Godson is devoted to sculpturing, painting, writing, and mentoring children & seniors in the Florida Community, which is testament to his devotion to the arts. His book is truly inspirational, in that it continues in the tradition of African American art and poetry, that reveals his love of God. His work reminds me of other African Americans realist sculptors e,g., Augusta Savage, Richard Barthe, Sargent Claude Johnson, of the 30's. And 40's, and those who followed, e.g., Elizabeth Catlett. His work has won numerous Awards. Lift Ev'vy Voice, A 9ft Bronze Statue, can be seen at Florida Memorial University in Miami, FL. His art and poetry in this book, will move the reader to view art with an emotional feeling, which is also manifested in concrete, for all to see. As a fledgling writer, myself, I am inspired by his artistry. Well done!
True creative inspiration with a twist. The artwork is amazing. Would love to see in a live exhibit with narration.
